Francois Boucher Art Tapestries

Francois Boucher (1703-1770): Francois Boucher was an accomplished artist during the 18th Century. Boucher had many of his paintings woven into tapestries during the Renaissance period. He was a French painter and was noted for his pastoral and mythological scenes, his work embodies the frivolity of the rococo style. In tapestries, the famous name is Boucher. Examples of his work are the paintings Triumph of Venus (c. 1740, National museum, Stockholm) and Nude Lying on a Sofa (c. 1752, Munich) and the tapestry series Loves of the Gods (c. 1744). His ability with the brush, enabled him to master every aspect of painting - history and mythology, portraiture, landscape, ordinary life and, as part of larger compositions, even still life.
